Since this is the first one, I'm going to make it relatively simple. Also, you are allowed to use any non-human resources to answer the questions. You may post your answers on this thread, but you will only be sent your results via pm.

1. Explain what it means for an effect to miss the timing to activate.

2. Which of the following cards/effects may be activated while Necrovalley is face-up on the field? (Select all that apply)

A. Monster Reborn
B. D.D. Crow
C. Soul Release
D. Salvage

3. To which of the following cards/effects can Starlight Road be directly chained? (Select all that apply)

A. Elemental HERO Stratos
B. Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis
C. Mobius the Frost Monarch
D. Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry

4. Explain what it means to be in an open gamestate.

5. Player A controls a face-up Light and Darkness Dragon (800/400) and a Dark Bribe set on a prior turn. Player B activates Monster Reborn, targeting Player A's Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack that was destroyed by the effect of Torrential Tribute. Which of the following is correct? (Select all that apply)

A. Player A may not negate Monster Reborn's activation with Dark Bribe.
B. Player B chose an illegal target for Monster Reborn, and so should select a different monster.
C. Player A may negate Monster Reborn's activation with Light and Darkness Dragon.

1. If a monster with an effect that is an optional eff or a "You can effect" is started in a chain such as the effect of Lightpulsar Dragon once he has been sent to the grave to special summon a monster. How it would miss timing is if it's not the last thing to occur in a chain. So if the last thing wouldn't be the monster going to the graveyard or obeying the effects condition then the effect will miss timing.

2. All of the Above (?) .-.

3. B

4. When no effect is currently going on and no chain is being formed is when the game state is open.

5. C

1. When another action is happening at the same time as a  optional trigger effect would be activated. If the "when" is not the last thing to happen in the chain, the effect will not activate. Tributing for a tribute summon, synchro summoning, and cards that destroy and have an additional effect such as Soul Taker (LP are gained at the time the effect would activate) are examples of things that cause missed timing. Only "when...you can" effects can miss timing, never "if...you can".

2. None

3. C only

4. An open gamestate is basically when nothing is going on. No chains are being resolved and no effects are being activated. It is the only time spell speed 1 effects such as normal/continuous spells as well as monster ignition effects can be activated. It is also the only time that things such as normal summons, xyz summons, and synchro summons can be performed.

5. A
